House at Kennett River

This deliberately modest dwelling provides the essentials for a beachside getaway. Its simple skillion form recalls the coastal structures of the 50’s and sits comfortably within this small town on Victoria’s Great Ocean Road. Clad in corrugated steel it is ideally orientated to obtain winter sun, summer shade and all year views of the adjacent bush. An intimate interior is crafted from the use of timber panels to the floor, walls and ceiling as well as cabinetry and sliding panels. The house demonstrates how rigorous planning can achieve a cost effective yet spacious outcome for a family retreat.
